The surname Clock is something that is very fitting for the character and the profession he is in, and also in many ways his life. An almost 40 year old man, with a non existent social and love life, owner of a funeral home, and living by unfulfilled resolutions. Get why the clock is always ticking away for this character?

Life, at the end of the day, is about the living, and Jane Riley gets that across in a positive manner to readers through the developments and changes in Oliver Clock's personality after the tragedy of Marie.

Always surrounded by the dead, you'd think a man of in his job would know the value of time and how to go get it when he wants something, because they'd know the value of time and how short life is. Unfortunately for Oliver, he finds it difficult to do so, and the biggest resolution of his is love, for Marie his florist. The withholding of professing his love turns out to be his biggest regret in life, when due to unforeseen circumstances, Marie dies, and through her private journal he realizes that she loved him too. How does anyone continue to live, knowing he could have acted upon his instincts, and that life would have been something else?

Jane Riley (author) has managed to pen every single emotion of a man battling between the worlds of a lost love and the realization to live life to the fullest in the current world in the most beautiful manner possible. The emotions are raw, you truly connect with the character of Oliver Clock, and are able to fully empathize and understand what he is going through. In many cases you will identify with him, and you might even be going through the same scenario, albeit in a different setting.

The best part about this book is that at no time do you feel extremely depressed. Life, at the end of the day, is about the living, and Jane Riley gets that across in a positive manner to readers through the developments and changes in Oliver Clock's personality after the tragedy of Marie. You're even left elated, which is ironic and refreshing, given you're reading about a funeral home owner! This book is a must read for all!
