Author: Melanie Raabe Rating: ★★★1/2

Your sister is murdered, the killer's never caught - how would you feel? And what if 13 years later, you find yourself facing the horror of your dreams, the killer himself? What would you do? Well, in this case, Linda wrote a book for him and called him to interview her.

Linda Conrads is a recluse literature writer with a condition that built up over time, due to depression, of not being able to step out of the comforts of her home after the murder of her sister. When she sees the murderer on a news channel however, she devises a plan to lure him into a confession under the pretence of an interview she wishes to give him before the release of her book (which by the way, is a fictional representation of her story, of her sister's murder and of the "cold-blooded" murderer, who unlike in reality, is caught in the end).

What comes along in the entire plot is the usual cat and mouse chase, and who is smarter of the lot. The book even manages to control your perception of the scenario, into believing in another sort of ending, another killer, however, you do realise soon, that is not plausible, though you wish it were.

I wish the book had ended with the alternate ending mentioned, more than the ending it actually had, because then it would really have been a thriller, and something to really look forward to. I do admit, it would've been a little of a depressing ending, especially in this world of chaos, sadism, and what not, but, and hence, the justice being served part comes into play I guess, that all does end well. Though that's not reality is it?

The book's a good read, keeps you gripped too as such, but leaves you wishing for a better end to the story, and as such a better motive for the kill too. Nonetheless, a good light read as such, if you're not looking for thrillers of Stephen King, Sherlock Holmes or James Patterson sorts.
